THE Seandún GAA City Division received a major boost recently ahead of their 2024 season as two new sponsors have come on board to support the city junior hurling and football teams.
PharmaCare Distribution Ltd, a leading first aid supplier for Irish pharmacies and sports clubs, have been announced as this year’s U21 Hurling and Football Championship sponsor.
Mills Driver Training, who have been successfully serving Cork drivers with instruction since 2005, have also come on board as the new sponsors of the refurbished Media Hub that will reside in the Ballinlough pitch, where the City Division matches are held.
Speaking at the first match of the PharmaCare U21 Football Championship, Managing Director Billy Cotter spoke about his delight on getting the opportunity to support the City Division under 21 teams this year.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to support the running of the U21 Championships this year in conjunction with Seandún GAA”, Billy says.
“As a keen follower of GAA games in Cork, I cannot emphasise enough, the importance of the U21 grade in context of player development.
“I would encourage all clubs to make a huge effort to participate in the U21 grade. For me, U21 is one of the most exciting but undervalued grades in the country and we all must play our part in promoting and supporting this critical stage of a players career.
“It should be the bridge that helps all players transition to adult hurling and football.”
Meanwhile, Dermot Mills, who has successfully served Cork drivers with instruction since 2005 with his company, Mills Driver Training, hopes that his contribution will help the city division with one of the many positive changes the committee hope to make this year to the Ballinlough GAA grounds.
Speaking of the sponsorship Dermot remarked that: “all of us at Mills Driver Training are delighted to be on board with sponsoring the newly refurbished media hub in Ballinlough, and are excited to see the new updates to the grounds.
“Updating the facilities for visiting journalists and photographers in Ballinlough is much needed, and we are more than happy to support the City Division with this.”
Seandún GAA Secretary Eddie Murphy, who took up the position this year, is delighted with the addition of the two new sponsors, and hopes that both companies will enjoy the experience.
Eddie hopes that the addition of new sponsors will make a positive impact on the U21 Championship, as well as the facilities in Ballinlough for journalists and photographers that visit Ballinlough, along with plans to develop other areas which the 2024 committee hope to vastly improve and update over the coming year.
“All of the committee are delighted that we have secured two additional sponsors this year, as well as retaining AOS Security for our Junior League and Championship Competition Sponsor.
“We are looking forward to welcoming spectators to Ballinlough this year with some much needed improvements and to make the experience of coming to Ballinlough to watch their club play an enjoyable one for all.
“As a committee, we hope to bring some fresh ideas to the table this year for the City Division Junior and Under 21 matches, and there is also great enthusiasm from clubs for these competitions.”
